Maximum Gross Primary Productivity Dominates the Trend in Gross Primary Productivity in China’s Deciduous Forest Ecosystems

چکیده
The terrestrial gross primary productivity (GPP) has increased over the past two decades. However, climatic attribution and physiological phenological processes that control trends in GPP are still unclear. Here, we used remote-sensing-based vegetation phenology datasets, analyzed spatial temporal variation GPP, investigated influence of growing season length (GSL) maximum value (GPPmax) on annual quantified effect climate variables GPP. Our results identified a significant increase (11.97 gC/m2/yr) during 2001–2020 China’s deciduous forest. GPPmax trend dominated when compared with GSL. Moreover, warming summer contributes to GPPmax, while extension GSL is primarily due temperature rise spring. planted forest showed higher increasing rate than natural forest, enhancement high sensitivity factors findings provide new perspective causes emphasize importance capturing variability modeling

Dominant role of plant physiology in trend and variability of gross primary productivity in North America
Annual gross primary productivity (GPP) varies considerably due to climate-induced changes in plant phenology and physiology. However, the relative importance of plant phenology and physiology on annual GPP variation is not clear. In this study, a Statistical Model of Integrated Phenology and Physiology (SMIPP) was used to evaluate the relative contributions of maximum daily GPP (GPPmax) and th...
متن کاملA geostatistical synthesis study of factors affecting gross primary productivity in various ecosystems of North America
A coupled Bayesian model selection and geostatistical regression modeling approach is adopted for empirical analysis of gross primary productivity (GPP) at six AmeriFlux sites, including the Kennedy Space Center Scrub Oak, Vaira Ranch, Tonzi Ranch, Blodgett Forest, Morgan Monroe State Forest, and Harvard Forest sites. The analysis is performed at a continuum of temporal scales ranging from dail...
متن کاملNorth American gross primary productivity: regional characterization and interannual variability
Seasonality and interannual variability in North American photosynthetic activity reflect potential patterns of climate variability. We simulate 24 yr (1983–2006) and evaluate regional and seasonal contribution to annual mean gross primary productivity (GPP) as well as its interannual variability. The highest productivity occurs in Mexico, the southeast United States and the Pacific Northwest. ...
متن کاملEvaluation of rangeland gross primary productivity sensitivity potential to drought using ecosystem modelling
Gross primary productivity is one of the most important factors in the carbon cycle of terrestrial ecosystems. With global warming increase, the frequent drought events and the specific response of regional vegetation to these changes, it is essential to identify and quantify the relationships between climatic and GPP data in arid region. In this study, the responses of gross primary productivi...
متن کاملGross primary production of global forest ecosystems has been overestimated
Coverage rate, a critical variable for gridded forest area, has been neglected by previous studies in estimating the annual gross primary production (GPP) of global forest ecosystems. In this study, we investigated to what extent the coverage rate could impact forest GPP estimates from 1982 to 2011. Here we show that the traditional calculation without considering the coverage rate globally ove...
